Another Successful weekend for the Prospects!

2010-05-18

Three medals in three tournaments for our 1999, 2000, and 2001 teams.

The 99 Prospects bring home silver at the Ottawa Riot's Sande Can-Am Prospects.

The 99 Prospects had a fantastic tournament and should be very proud of their efforts to bring home a silver medal.

The competition was very tough but our awesome 99s battled hard all weekend and never gave up.

The results from the 99s round robin play:

Prospects 3     Eastern Ontario Flyers 2
Prospects 2     Ottawa Riot Blue 1
Prospects 2     Primex Power 2
Prospects 2     Peak Centre Performance 2

Semi final play has the 99s against the first place team from the other division in the Ottawa Riot Red, the Riot's top team. Regulation play ended in 0-0. The teams were headed to overtime, which ended up solving nothing. On the 5th player in the shootout the Prospects prevailed and were off to the final against Peak Centre Performance, the tournament favourite.

The final proved to be just as exciting as the semi game with end to end action and a great game being played by both sides.

Regulation ended in a 2-2 draw which meant overtime again. The first overtime didn't see a goal so the teams headed to the second overtime period. It was during the second OT that Peak Centre scored, giving our 99s the silver.

The 2000 Prospects had another successful weekend during the NS Selects "Bluenose Cup," by taking home the silver medal.

In round robin play:

Prospects 5   NB Rampage 2
Prospects 7   NB Southeast Selects 2
Prospects 7   NB V-Reds Regional 0

This set up a final against the host NS Selects. The Selects came out flying and tallied 3 quick goals and putting our Prospects on their heals. The 2000s got squared away and dominated the game, getting to 3-2. Unfortunately they could not get any closer and came away with the silver.

The 2001 Prospects capture the bronze medal at the Nova Scotia Selects "Bluenose Cup".

The 2001 Prospects used an expanded roster for the Bluenose Cup and carried 18 players and 2 goalies. This took some getting used to as the team work for consistency on the opening day.

Round robin scores were as follows:

Prospects 6       NS Selects 3
PEI Riptide 5     Prospects 2
NB Express 5   Prospects 3
Prospects 7      NS Fire 0

The bronze medal game had the Prospects against the PEI Riptide, with our 01s coming out on top with a 3-2 win.

Congratulations to the 01 players, coaches and families for another successful weekend.
