Tyler Naugler - Assistant Coach St. Mary's University Men's Hockey Team

Tyler has past experience as the President and Director of Hockey Operations of the Halifax Lions Hockey Club (MHL).  He had moved into that position after one season as the Lions head coach and general manager. Naugler had joined the Lions after serving for three successful seasons as head coach of the South Shore Mustangs of the Nova Scotia Major Midget AAA Hockey League. His work with the Mustangs led to coach Naugler being named the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League coach of the year in 2006. 

A Bridgewater native, Tyler is a former MJAHL player, having skated for three seasons with the Cole Harbour Scotia Colts, where his teammates included present day NHL'ers Aaron Downey of the Detroit Red Wings and Eric Boulton of the Atlanta Thrashers. After his junior career ended, Naugler played three seasons with the Dalhousie Tigers of the AUS, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Recreation degree. 

Tyler came up through the Bridgewater minor hockey system alongside NHL star and fellow Bridgewater native Glenn Murray. His playing days behind him, Tyler immediately jumped into the coaching ranks, serving as an assistant coach with the Saint Mary's Huskies, for seven highly successful seasons. During this time, the Huskies re-established themselves as a force on the national collegiate scene, and Tyler gained invaluable knowledge under the tutelage of former two-time CIS Coach of the Year Trevor Stienburg. This past season saw the Saint Mary's Huskies capture the 2016 CIS University bronze medal to go along with their gold medal winning perfomance in 2010

Aside from coaching, Tyler also played a pivotal role in youth hockey development through his work with the Saint Mary's Camp of Champions, where he served as Director of the Camp of Champions Hockey School, as well as his role as the Lead Instructor and Director of Player Development with the NS Propects.

Tom Lee - Assistant Coach St. Mary's University Men's Hockey Team

The 2015-2016 season will be Tom’s 7th year as the assistant coach of the Saint Mary’s Huskies. Coach Lee is as an integral part of the coaching staff. Tom brings an abundance of experience and knowledge on both sides of the puck and both sides of the glass. His bench experience and game analysis are complimented well with his power skating, off ice training and overall hockey development skills.

All this has made Tom one of the most coveted coaches in Atlantic Canada. He has a deep passion in player development and has served with Hockey Nova Scotia’s High Performance program with his Hockey Canada High Performance Level coaching credentials. Since Tom has been a member of the Huskies coaching staff the Huskies have been AUS champions, CIS nation finalists, CIS Bronze medalists (2016) and CIS Champions in 2010.

Tom is a cancer survivor and a proud contributor to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. To quote Tom: ”Our student-athletes are tomorrow’s leaders, and as far as I’m concerned the world is in good hands.” He resides in Ferguson Cove with his wife Leslie and their four children Samantha, Cameron, Sierra and Julia.

Chris Larade - Head Coach Saint Mary's University Womens Hockey Team

Chris just completed his 5th season as head coach at Saint Mary's University, having accumulated an overall regular season and playoff record of 44-31-8 during the last three seasons after taking over a 1-22-1 program. After a championship final loss in the 2012-2013 season, the team was twice ranked in the CIS top 10 polls in 2014-2015 and went onto a 16-6-2 regular season that year. In 2014-2015, the Huskies survived a slow start to finish on a 7-2-1 run leading into the playoffs.

Larade’s past experiences  include 3 years as head coach of the Metro Boston Pizza Female Midget  AAA program of the NSFMHL where the team captured three provincial and  league titles, 2 Atlantic silver medals, and twice was named  Coach of the Year. Larade was also an assistant coach for Team Nova Scotia at the 2011 Canada Winter Games, which were held in Halifax.

Prior to moving to Halifax, Chris served as assistant coach for the StFX X-Women's varsity program where the team captured an AUS title and two CIS national championship appearances. Chris has also been heavily involved with Hockey Nova Scotia's High Performance Program at the U18 and U16 levels, winning 5 Atlantic Challenge Cups.

Chris holds a High Performance 1 and Level 3 theory coaching certification and is a graduate of both the Human Kinetics and Education programs at St. Francis Xavier University.

This past season Chris led his team to a National Bronze medal while being name the CIS coach of the year.

Jim Midgely - Assistant Coach Halifax Mooseheads QMJHL

Midgley joined the Halifax Mooseheads as an assistant coach in 2011 and was behind the bench when the team captured the Memorial Cup Championship in 2012-2013. 

Prior to accepting the job with Halifax, Midgley was the Director of Hockey Operations for Rothesay Netherwood Prep School in New Brunswick.  He was also Head Coach for Team New Brunswick at the 2011 Canada Games in Halifax. Midgley served as an assistant coach for the Saint John Sea Dogs from 2007 to 2009 and held the same position at Acadia University from 2003 to 2007.  

He also has coaching experience with Hockey Canada, as assistant coach for Team Atlantic Under 17 in 2009, followed by head coach in 2010.  Midgley was also the Team Nova Scotia Head Coach at the 2015 Canada Games and was recently named to the Team Canada U18 coaching staff.

Tim Boyce - Head Coach Halifax McDonalds NSEMMHL

Boyce joined the Halifax McDonalds as the teams head coach in 2013-14 after 2 yrs as the South Shore Mustangs head coach, and led the team to a NS Major Midget league title and Atlantic Championship that year, finishing 5th in the Nation at the Telus Cup in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.  That year he was also named Hockey Nova Scotias Coach of the Year.

Tim has been coaching for 17yrs and has previous experience at the minor hockey and high school levels, capturing the MHSHL league title in 05-06 with QEH Highschool as head coach and 12-13 with Citadel Highschool as an assistant.
Tim has experience with the HNS High Performance program having won gold in 2012 as an assistant coach and 2013 as the head coach of the U14 team.

Tim served as the Head Coach/GM of the Bridgewater Lumberjacks/Halifax Wolverines of the MHL from 07-09 and has been a scout for the Pictou County Weeks Crushers of the same league from 2009 to present.

Ryan Hiller - Assistant Coach/Strength and Conditioning Coach Saint Mary's University Men's Hockey Team

Ryan, a native of Hammonds Plains played four seasons with the Halifax Moosehead's before being drafted to the New York Rangers in 2006. He went on to play professional hockey for three years for the Rangers affiliate teams before returning to Saint Mary's to further his education. He played two seasons for the Huskies and was a CIS silver medalist in 2012/2013.

Stephen MacCaulay - Saint Mary's University Men's Hockey

After a 5 year major jr career with the Saint John Sea Dogs and Halifax Mooseheads which saw Stephen drafted to the NHL in round 6 by the St. Louis Blues, Stephen started his pro career where he played 8 games in the AHL before returning to SMU to continue his studies during 2014-15. Stephen was named a second team all star in the AUS during the 15-16 season where the Huskies captured a national bronze medal.
