2002 Prospects Golden

The 2002 NS Prospects won the Jr Warrior National Showcase over the weekend, defending the title won last year by the 2002 HHG Atlantic Elite team.

After opening the tournament with a tough 5-3 loss to the host Warrior team, the 02's won back to back 1-0 games against the New Jersey Avalanche and the Boch Blazers on the strength of great team play and tremendous goaltending by Josh McCarther and T Mecenas. The team then hammered the Boston Jr Bruins 10-1 to secure a 3-1 record and the second seed in their division after round robin play.

In the semi finals the 02's played the East Coast Express and controlled the entire game in a 5-2 victory leading to a match up against the NB Selects in the final. Tied 2-2 after regulation and overtime, the 02's were victorious in a shootout with goals by Liam Walsh and Patrick McInnis and with Josh McCarther stopping 4 of 5 NB shooters.

This win was a total team effort and a great way for the 02's to close their season.
