More medals for the Prospects program!

2008-05-20

Bronze for our '99 Prospects at the Bluenose Cup, and silver for our '97s at the Bulldogs Challenge Cup.

Our '99 Prospects played in the Bluenose Cup over the May long weekend. During round robin play the 99's had a 10-0 win over Target Force, a 7-5 loss to Newfoundland West Storm, an 8-6 defeat to the PEI Riptide and a 7-3 win over the host NS Selects.

In the bronze medal game, the 99's had a very strong performance and came away with a very exciting, last minute 3-2 victory in a re-match over the Newfoundland West Storm.

Another strong performance by our '99 Prospects who have quickly established them as one of the dominant '99 teams in the Atlantic provinces.

The strongest '97 team in the Atlantic provinces just increased their range of dominance to be included as one of the strongest teams east of Montreal.

The 97's returned from the Quebec Bulldogs Challenge Cup with a silver medal. The '97 Prospects defeated the Scorpions, Bulldogs Eclairs, National Chiefs, Rockets Rive-Nord and Blizzard on their way to the finals. In the finals the Prospects faced the very talented Bulldogs Avalanche and went into the second period break tied 2-2. Unfortunately the third period score was not in our 97's favour and they came away with silver.

Coach Naugler is exceptionally pleased with the play of our 97's and consider them to be the finest group of young men he has been able to work with. This is very high praise considering Coach Naugler has work with many of the finest players produced in the Atlantic provinces in the past 10 years.

Good luck to both teams as they host the Atlantic Canada Top Prospects Challenge, May 30-June 1 at the St. Margaret's Centre in Tantallon, NS.
