Campbell Pickard - Supporting Childhood Cancer Research!

Hi, My name is Campbell Pickard and I am almost 11 years old. Three years ago I started to grow my hair long. I play a lot of sports, and a lot of people teased me about "looking like a girl" with my ponytail hanging out of my helmet. I told anyone who cared to hear that I was growing my hair so I can get it cut and donate it to make a wig for a kid who lost their hair during cancer treatment. But, I really like my hair long … I just think it's cool. But I said I was going to do it and I want to help others. I would like you to help me by making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society to support childhood cancer research.

Most kids who get cancer lose their hair because of the treatment. I can't imagine how it would feel to have no hair, especially after having my hair long for three years. I really hope that the wigs made from our hair (my mom and my sister are going to do this with me too) will make some kids feel better about themselves.
My friend’s mom works at the Canadian Cancer Society and she told me, "Each year, 850 children, including 38 Nova Scotian children, are diagnosed with cancer." I would be really sad if that happened to me or my brother or sister or a friend. But, my friend's mom says, "More Canadian children with cancer are surviving thanks to the progress being made in cancer research. For all childhood cancers combined, the five-year survival is estimated to be 82%–."So, I’m helping kids with cancer in two ways. My hair will be made into wigs for kids with cancer. And, the money I raise will support childhood cancer research. Please let me know if you can help by making a donation.
